YOU Can Help Elect the First Indian and Union Member in Wisconsin
In 2006, INDN’s List was proud to help elect the first Indian to serve in the Pennsylvania legislature. Now, we have a chance to do it again! Wisconsin has never elected an Indian to either their State Assembly or State Senate. In an open seat election in a district that is pivotal for control of the State Assembly, the Democratic nominee, Mert Summers, is a member of the Oneida Nation.
Mert works daily to defend the rights of working Americans. A trained carpenter, Mert works for the Carpenter’s Union, where he leads a committee on Tribal Diversity that helps Oneida Nation tribal members secure construction contracts.
Mert is running for an open seat in the State Assembly. This election is one of the most hotly contested State Assembly elections in Wisconsin. Just last year Democrats regained control of the State Assembly. Republicans are targeting this seat as their top pickup opportunity and know that they must defeat Mert to reclaim the chamber!
